The Cry of the Lost Warrior

How do you get back to it? Back to what you’ve felt God calling you to do. You’ve felt Him calling you to an area of ministry, and you were so in line wiith that calling. You had your oppurtunity and you siezed it. Then He called you away. Away to a new place you’ve only visited a couple of days at a time. You know the lifestyle of the place and know it will be a struggle. But God reminds you that you are equipped and ready. So you go, You go to the place God has promised you is where you should be. You encounter resistance upon first arrival, but God is with you. He was with you just like he was with Jonathan son of Saul. You are fighting together fiercefully advancing in the battle. Then, the next thing you know. You’ve ran off without God He went right; you went left. By the time you realize how far away from the battlefront you are, you feel it’s too late. You know the oppurtunities you’ve missed by staying at the campsite and not waking up and fighting like you should have. But at the same time, you think that you can’t even get back into the battle. Like somehow, the frontline is too far in the distance to reach it in time. And if you do reach it before the war is over, you won’t have the pwerful strike you once did. Not only that, but you also feel as though the weapons you once had are gone, and the new ones you have just won’t be powerful enough to strike the enemy. How do you get back into the battle? And once you’re there how do you find your place in the line?

“From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it.” -Matthew 11:12

I want to be a forceful man.

    Some possibilities…
You were in the wrong battle, and God wanted you in another.
You were in the right battle, but carried it on too long.
You thought you were in the right battle, but were actually telling God what he should be doing.
You were in the right battle, but God wanted you to take a break.
And, perhaps the wrong attitude for any battle.

The battle is all around. A follower of Jesus in this world could wear herself out just with the day to day events. The events of Earth run on God’s timing, and sometimes perceiving them in terms of “war” and “battle” aren’t, at least in the most common interpretation, isn’t useful.

Yes, we fight. We fight ourselves, we run from God because he’s strange, we run from others because we’re afraid. God knows all of this and puts us where he wants us, in accordance with what we’re good at and what we need to learn. Being a forceful man requjires knowing when not to use force. Our mechanical culture has taught us that we’re machines, but that’s a lie. The truth is that God has to teach us how to be human, and that’s quite a battle. Every day.

“If we would endevor, like men of courage, to stand in the battle, surely we would feel favorable assistance from God in Heaven. For He who giveth us occasion to fight, to the end we may get the victory, is ready to succor (assist those in distress) those who fight manfully, & do trust in His grace.”
    - Thomas A Kempis

    Travis,

You are there at the point, the frontlines of the battle. Trust in His grace and His might. It was never yours in the first place. It is when we press against His Spirit that we understand what true force is. Now that you are there, seize each moment with ruthless trust.
